Black Friday and Cyber Monday Christmas Gift Shopping
58Black Friday Shopping
The term Black Friday has come to have a greatly different meaning today than it did back in 1869 when the label was first applied to the day of the stock market catastrophe. The label has been applied in one way or another to the Friday after the United State's Thanksgiving Holiday.
Black Friday has come to symbolize the unofficial start of the Christmas Shopping Season. For retailers and consumers across the nation Black Friday is a once a year event that leaves everyone exhausted and exuberant. From Toys R Us to Macy's, Black Friday sales are used to forecast the success of the Christmas Shopping Season. Consumers flock to the stores often in the wee hours of the morning the day after Thanksgiving to try to be the first in line presumably to get the best deals, or assure the purchase of that new must have Christmas gift that is in limited supply.
Great Deals on Christmas Gifts
Like every other consumer in the world I love a great deal. Getting what I want and spending less money because it is on sale is what shopping is all about for me and most of the people I know. Despite the inherent drawbacks of the demolition derby parking lots and the near riot situation inside the stores I for many years considered Black Friday the can't miss shopping event of the year.
I stood and waited in the massive lines that form before the sun comes up, in the freezing cold, waiting for the poor unsuspecting and not nearly awake store associate to come and open the store. The associate often times did not even make it to the door before the pushing and shoving in the line began. It seemed that just a glimpse of that red, or yellow vest had the ability to change peoples behavior. Reasonable responsible people where suddenly and thoroughly transformed into playground bullies.
Cyber Monday
Cyber Monday has become a a life saving alternative to the feeding frenzy of Black Friday
Cyber Monday became the unofficial start to the Christmas Gift Shopping Season via the Internet. Retailers across the nation like Target, Best Buy, WalMart, Old Navy and many more offered Black Friday deals and savings to their online shoppers beginning the Monday after Thanksgiving
Because of issues with the Monday being the first day back to work after the long Holiday for many consumers, online retailers have shifted the start date to Thanksgiving day.
Internet Shopping takes the stress and worry out of Christmas Shopping. Great Deals, Great Gifts, Saves time, money and your sanity. Why would you shop any other way?

Oh no Christmas will be here all too soon :(
Uh oh............... love the reminder, but I'll still be out there the week before Christmas. I have never shopped on Black Friday. My mother and grandmother did it for years, an old mother daughter tradition. Me, I listened to their stories............. and stay home! :-D
Thanks for this......... Kaie
You know, I really hate the whole shopping frenzy thing around Christmastime...the malls are CRAZY! This cybershop thing is great, thanks for the heads up!
Very good hub, I'm a huge fan of black Friday, it gives me an excuse to shop ;) I featured your hub on mine titled "Thanksgiving Day - Planning for Black Friday Shopping"
great reminder for the upcoming holiday...you know I have been doing a cyber Friday for several years now...The last black Friday I did was midnight on Thursday one year - I went to CompUsa for a huge technology sale...thanks I enjoyed this
Interesting hub. The Black Friday was a very sad event, and speaks volumes. Cyber Monday sounds interesting. I guess every day on the net is like Cyber Monday now.
Black Friday means a totally different thing here in Australia. Black Friday was the day in 1939 of our worst Bushfires. Until more recent Fires took over the mantle our Black Friday was the day of our worst natural disaster.
Sorry to put a damper on such a good Hub. Rated it up to awesome :-)
Aha~ I didn't know what Cyber Monday was until you told me! I definitely prefer to shop online. I live so far out in the boonies there are no major retailers around here anyhow.
Excellent Hub - I have made a shopping video for Dublin ireland that is on my hub....Irish

I hate Christmas shopping! In fact, I hate all shopping...stopped going out to the department stores years ago. I do everything on line, except for groceries and drug store items.
