What to do in Pennsylvania
71Welcome All
I live in Eastern Pa. As many of you know we have some very large names here in our tourism industry such as “Hershey Park & Chocolate World”, “Dutch Wonderland”, The “Gettysburg Battlefields & Museums”, and “The Harley Davidson Factory & Museum” to name a few. All are really great attractions and I am sure that anyone planning to visit my area will be planning their vacation around one of these. But if you are anything like me one or two days of these bigger crowd pleasers is more than enough. So what do you do with the rest of your vacation? Well you have come to the right place. We have some really great lesser known attractions in our area that are sure to please, and the perfect way to keep everyone entertained for days.
A Few of Knobles attractions
Little Known Attractions
The first in my list of little known attractions is “Knobles Grove Amusement Park”. This is a wonderful turn of the century amusement park nestled in the mountains of Ellysburg Pa. about 60 miles north of Hershey Pa. They have continued to grow over the years and is now a full service resort area. They have camping facilities on the park grounds and also offer rental cabins. This is a beautiful old park. This park will take you back to your youth with strolling entertainers and classic rides, while keeping the younger generation on the edge of their seats with a number of newer rides and attractions. For more info please have a look at their website http://www.knoebels.com/
Lake Tobias
For anyone looking for a change of pace from the amusement parks, “Lake Tobias” is a one of a kind Wildlife Park. For the last 45 years “Lake Tobias” situated 25 miles north of Harrisburg Pa. In Halifax has been entertaining and educating guests of all ages. From the petting zoo, to the Safari tours there is something to be seen at every turn. Tour guides and animal trainers are always available to answer questions and help out. The park also has a large picnic area and is a perfect companion to the “Hershey Park” vacation.

Roadside America
“Roadside America” is another change of pace companion to “Hershey Park” A forty-minute drive east from Hershey will take you to Shartlesville Pa. Home of the ever-popular Roadside America. This is one of the largest known miniature villages in America. The exhibit spans 200 years of American History all hand crafted in perfect 3/8in. to the foot scale. The 8,000 square foot panoramic display of American culture feature several fully operational miniature railway, a mountain trolley and much more. An absolute must see for any miniature train enthusiast, that will delight and entertain the entire family. http://www.roadsideamericainc.com/#hi
Indian Echo Caverns
"Indian Echo Caverns" is about 5 miles west of Hershy Park in Hummelstown Pa. The limestone caverns are over 440 million years old. The cavern sits along the banks of the Swatara creek and it is generally believed they were occupied by Susquehannock Indians before they vanished from the area in the 1670's. This site offers a gist mill and mining experiance as well as a petting zoo and playground. Picnic areas are also available if booked in advance. Plese check out thier website at http://www.indianechocaverns.com/index.htm

Ah, but have you ever been to Souderton? I grew up in Souderton and lived there until 1989 when I moved out here.
Ok. How about Telford, Hatfield, Lansdale? I grew up about an hour north of Philly.
I grew up not too far away from Lansdale. In fact, I was a sub for their school district for two years and when I was still in school we competed against them. How about Harleysville?
Yeah, we used to have relatives who lived in Maryland. It's cool that you've been to Lansdale though! Close enough!
My mother was born in Marchand PA and I still have family in Reaver Falls. Lovely hub. Like going back again.
I love Pennsyltuckians and your state as well. Been all over it and seen many things. A lot of spooks over there too. And bears, mostly good lookin' women. I like women, good food too, nothing better than shoo fly pie. Peace and cheers, CC
I guess I did not realize how close we are in the state...Anyway we travel to Knoebel's every year with friends from college, I did a hub on this...I did another hub on the PA wine trails...So it appears we overlap a bit for your trail around the world but I would be happy to link this with my PA hubs, if you do not mind...
Hi Ohma - Yes I got your email and will include the Hubtrail tag in both hubs...thanks
